PCYC Fundraising Barbecue
At Laing+Simmons Hornsby we are passionate about our local community which is why we get involved wherever we can.
Last week three of our Sales agents held a sausage sizzle in Hornsby Mall to raise funds for the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai PCYC. They had a great day, and were able to raise $500 to support the PCYC’s great work.
Charity Golf Tournament
We were very proud to support the Wahroonga Masters Golf Tournament last Friday, raising funds for Wahroonga Primary School.
45 parents, grandparents and friends of Wahroonga PS converged on Asquith Golf Club for what was a fun day of community building. Trophies were awarded for longest drive, nearest tee shot to pin and overall handicap champion team, but the main emphasis was on fun, participation and raising some money for the school.
A Helping Hand
We were proud to present the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter with a donation of $19,000 this week.
Since opening in February 2015 the Women’s Shelter has been able to help over 60 women with crisis accommodation and full case management support.
We worked closely with one of our clients to donate a full sale commission to this important cause. Our local community has truly supported our business growth over the past year, and it has been through this success that we are able to offer this financial support to much needed local charities such as the Women’s Shelter.
Australia Day lead up events
On Friday 23rd January 2015 Aussie Hornsby and the Hornsby branch of PCYC both held fund raisers in Hornsby Mall. Laing + Simmons proudly supported both events by providing 67 cup cakes made by The Cupcake Factory to sell at the Aussie marquee and providing our normal BBQ pack of 20 loaves of bread, 2 litres of sauce and 200 napkins to the PCYC event.
Aussie was very excited about their fund raiser and were very grateful for our generous support. They raised $549 to support Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital and were very pleased with the success of their event.
Daniel Alars and his team had just returned from camp the previous day and were quite tried but still very enthusiastic about their fundraiser. In spite of the heat, they drew in large crowds.

1st Hornsby Heights Scouts & Sydney North Off Road Cyclists fund raiser
On Saturday 13th December the 1st Hornsby Heights Scouts and the Sydney North Off Road cyclists decided to combine their efforts and run a joint fund raising campaign.
The fund raising event was conducted at the new Dural Street Mountain Bike Trail and they were the first group to use the new Laing + Simmons marquee specifically purchased for use by the community fund raising groups.
The event was well supported and proved very popular with the cycling community and the scouts.
Domestic Violence Network
Many thanks for your support of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai DV Network's 'Walk the Talk" Community Walk to Stop Violence Against Women on Friday 28th November 2014.
It was very generous of Laing & Simmons to provide the bread, sauces and serviettes for the free sausage sizzle that we organised for the participants after the walk.
It was a successful event with approximately 100 people participating in the walk and the cultural performances by the Chinese Community. We served 200 sausage sizzle on the day. The Hornsby Ku-ring-gai DV Network always has events during the UN 16 days of activism against gender violence and this was the first time that we organised a sausage sizzle after the walk. It is important to raise awareness in the community about the prevalence of domestic violence in all its forms and to get a culture change to help prevent women from this abuse.

Hornsby-Berowra Men's Shed
On behalf of the Hornsby-Berowra Men’s Shed, I’d like to express our grateful thanks for your generous provision of bread and sauce for the Hornsby Mall Sausage Sizzle conducted on the 10th October.
Ably assisted by some of our wives, we had a very enjoyable day in the Mall, cooking up a storm and interacting with shoppers as they crossed the plaza. Business was brisk and we succeeded in raising some more funds towards our new shed to be built at Mount Kuring‑gai. If we repeat the exercise during the summer months, we will definitely take advantage of your offer of a gazebo, as things got pretty hot in the middle of the day.
Once again, thank you for your generous support of our organisation.
Peter Gregory, Secretary, Hornsby-Berowra Men’s Shed

Berowra Men's Shed
On behalf of the men of Hornsby-Berowra Men’s Shed, I would like to express our thanks and gratitude for your generous support of our first Hornsby Mall Sausage Sizzle.
The forecast wet weather held off just long enough for us to sell the last of 400 sausage sandwiches, allowing us to realise a tidy profit. The money will be put towards our building fund, which will eventually see a new 200 square metre shed erected in the industrial area of Mount Kuring-gai. Most of our activities are performed for the benefit of the local community. We have recently made tools for use in the Occupational Therapy unit of Hornsby Hospital, and have made a “row boat” to be used as children’s playground equipment for a pre-school at Epping. Consequently, your assistance with our sausage sizzle will ultimately help us with further community-based projects.
We intend to use the HSC Community BBQ Trailer again on Friday 10thOctober. On this occasion, the NSW Police Band will be performing in Hornsby Mall and is expected to draw a big crowd. If possible, we would value your assistance with this event.
Once again, thank you very much for your support of HBMS.
